I have been teaching Painting Classes for Talmapias Community Education in Mill Valley since 1992. Expressive Watercolor is lively and popular with hands- on demonstrations. I also offer private lessons to my water students who have studied with me over the years.

I also offer Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, which presents a doorway to new perception by following the book that we all have on the shelf. Oil Painting From the Carlson Art Gallery in Sausalito

I accept private students, or small groups, and I teach oil painting on location. Experience the splendor of plein air painting as we work with seeing luminous color on the landscape. Light creates color, and the color notes create light. The artist’s challenge is to mix these notes on a pallete, and then create a composition. You will learn how to capture the feeling of light and atmosphere in expressing your own vision. Tailor learning to your own pace. I provide assistance with assembling the tools that you need for this experience. We will visit fantastic locations in the Bay Area, places I have been going to for many years.

Shifting light is my passion, and I am constantly studying to become a better painter. I believe that truthful observation, painting outdoors is the greatest teacher. I look to the lineage of Henry Hensche, the California Six, John Singer Sargeant, as well as the California and French Impressionist School.
